摘要：

A new concept for the integrated manipulation of storage pests, which is based on insect trapping by sex and food attractants along with insecticidal fumigation, is proposed. This preventive manipulation (see fig. 5) involves a. the permanent presence of a small number of attractant traps as monitors of infestation by pest species, b. the subsequent employment of more attractant traps and - if necessary - fumigation limited to the infested regions in order to suppress the insect population below an economic level (insectistasis), and c. complete fumigation if rapid insect control of an infested commodity is requested.
