Stability of three-dimensional boundary layers
摘要:
Problems of hydrodynamic stability have attracted applied mathematicians and experimentalists for all of this century. Besides the intrinsic mathematical and experimental challenges that characterise stability work, the main driving force for the study of boundary-layer stability is the understanding, prediction and control of transition to turbulence. The origins of turbulent flow and transition to turbulence remain the most important unresolved problems in fluid mechanics and aerodynamics. The process of the breakdown of a bounded laminar flow is three dimensional and may be described by a simplified discussion.
