On the Mechanism of Side-Jet Generation in Periodically Excited Axisymmetric Jets
摘要:
Transitional hot jets with self-excited oscillations and acoustically forced cold jets are investigated experimentally in order to understand the mechanism of 'side-jet' generation. The development of side-jets from the azimuthal instability of the primary vortex rings in the jet is visualized using a combination of laser sheet and phase-locked stroboscopic illumination techniques.
