This monograph reports detailed information on the incidence of and mortality from cancer in the United States during the initial five years of the National Cancer Institutes Surveillance Program 1973-1977. Data are classified according to sex race age and residence of the patients; anatomic site; and histologic type of cancer. Cancer patient survival will be the subject of a subsequent monograph once enough time has elapsed for survival to be measured. Separate chapters are included on the United States as a whole Connecticut metropolitan Detroit Iowa metropolitan Atlanta metropolitan New Orleans New Mexico Utah Seattle-Puget Sound the San Francisco-Oakland SMSA Hawaii and Puerto Rico.
