The present invention relates generally to methods for treating cancer and to methods of predicting the responsiveness of a cancer cell to therapeutic treatment. In particular, the invention provides the identities of genes (biomarkers) that may be used to identify populations or individuals of cancer sufferers that are likely to respond favourably to treatment with a Poly(ADP-Ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitor.
