Enantioseparation of Clenbuterol on Teicoplanin-Based Chiral Stationary Phase

The enantiomeric resolution of clenbuterol was studied on teicoplanin-based chiral stationary phase.Factors affecting the enantioresolution,such as the separation mode,composition of mobile phase,temperature were investigated.The polar organic mode was proved to be the best.Under the conditions as follows:with methanol-acetic acid-triethylamine(100:0.01:0.01,valume ratio) as the mobile phase at a flow rate of 1.0 mL·min-1 and 20℃,the enantiomers of clenbuterol were baseline separated with the maximum resolution factor of 3.75.The chiral recognition mechanism was discussed,ionic interaction between the teicoplanin-based chiral stationary phase and clenbuterol was confirmed to be the dramatic interaction responsible for the chiral discrimination.
