Treatment of copper(I) acetate with Se(SiMe3)2 in the presence of tertiary phosphanes leads to the formation of clusters 1 and 2. The crystal structures of these two clusters show that the CuSe frameworks are isomers, whose structures differ considerably as a result of different ligand shells. The Se22 framework of 2 is shown on the right.
