摘要:

Of particular relevance to the present investigation are studies that have focused on means to reduce the strength of or disperse the wake vortices. Many methods seek to instigate an instability first analyzed extensively by Crow.12 The counter rotating vortex pair develops a sinusoidal perturbation in a plane inclined at 45° to the horizontal, with a wavelength of about 5-10 times the distance between the vortices, leading to a pinching off and reconnecting of the vortices into a train of vortex loops. Rennich and Lele13 numerically illustrates a potentially useful means to initiate this Crow instability by introducing vortices generated inboard of the tip vortices into the wake to excite the instability in the outboard vortices. They also observed a mixing of the vortices of opposite sign, which would theoretically reduce the amount of vorticity present in the tip vortices. Experiments that have been performed to manipulate the span load itself in the hopes of reducing vortex strength appear to be contradictory. While some researchers indicate the inboard span load should be increased,14 others indicate the opposite.15
