Application of Wave-shaped-gear-grip (WSGG) Anchor in Strengthened and Pre-tensioned Experiments by CFRP Laminations

WFRP composite has many good properties, such as high strength, light weight, resistance to fatigue, corrosion protection and so on. So FRP composite is an ideal material that can be used for repair and retrofit of the existing structure. However, FRP composite is different from steel, its weakness in transverse direction and its sensitivity to notching make anchoring very difficult. WSGG (Wave-shaped-gear-grip) anchor was developed based on the FRP sheets or laminations. The widely use of the FRP sheets in structure strengthening lays a solid foundation for the application of the WSGG anchor. In this paper, WSGG anchor is the core of CFRP strengthening or pre-tension strengthening experiments.
