The susceptibility gene (RB) product, the (), functions as a regulator of . Introduction of the RB gene into SAOS-2 osteosarcoma , which lack functional , prevents progression. Such -suppressive functions can be modulated by of , which occurs via -regulated kinases. We show that constitutively expressed and E can overcome -mediated suppression of proliferation. becomes hyperphosphorylated in overexpressing these , and this is essential for - and E-mediated rescue of -blocked . This suggests that G1 and S phase can act as regulators of function in the by promoting .
