1331966 Starch syrups HAYASHIBARA CO 23 Oct 1970 [24 Oct 1969] 50500/70 Heading C3U Starch syrup of low viscosity, high chemical stability and heat retention is obtained by adding to common starch syrup (1) a starch syrup consisting of linear chained oligosaccharide molecules which are obtained by subjecting liquefied starch slurry to the action of α-1,6- glucosidase during acidic or enzymatic (α- and #-amylases) saccharification or (2) a starch syrup consisting of linear chained sugar alcohols which are obtained by hydrogenating the starch syrup (1) under elevated pressure using a Raneynickel catalyst. The starch syrup mixture of common starch syrup and starch syrup (1) may be hydrogenated to obtain non-reducing starch syrups consisting of linear chained molecules. The initial liquefication is achieved by heating the starch in suspension at from 130 to 160 C., by heating at from 60 to 95 C. with the addition of α-amylase or by heating with the addition of acid. The starch syrup (1) or (2) typically amounts to between 30 and 50% by weight of the mixture.
