Role of acyl-CoA: cholesterol acyltransferase in cellular cholesterol metabolism.
摘要：
We discuss the biochemical and cellular properties of ACAT in detail in liver and the intestine. We also briefly consider these topics in steroid hormone-producing tissue and in arterial tissue in an attempt to relate the function of ACAT as it is understood at present to the pattern of cholesterol metabolism in each tissue. We have covered the literature in most detail over the period since this subject was last reviewed by Spector, Mathur, and Kaduce in 1979. Recent reports on ACAT in tissues not covered in detail here include lung fibroblasts, lung, lactating mammary gland, and arterial smooth muscle.
