There are provided thermoplastic compositions which comprise, in intimate admixture, (a) polyphenylene ether resin, a plasticizer for (a) in an amount at least sufficient to reduce the fusion temperature to below that at which degradation of component (c) (i) or (ii) occurs; and (c) (i) a poly (vinyl chloride) resin or (ii) a combination thereof with a plasticizer therefor, the degradation temperature of (c) (i) or (c) (ii) being at least as high as the fusion temperature of component (a) per se.
