A thermoplastic resin composition which has good moldability and yields molded articles having well-balanced physical properties comprises (a) a polyphenylene ether resin or a resin composition containing a polyphenylene ether, (b) a modified propylene polymer and (c) two or more rubbery substances. Component (b) is (i) a modified propylene polymer obtainable by grafting a propylene polymer with a styrene-based monomer or a mixture of a styrene-based monomer and a monomer copolymerizable with the styrene-based monomer or (ii) a composition containing the modified propylene polymer and a propylene polymer. Component (c) comprises at least one rubbery substance compatible with component (a), and at least one rubbery substance not compatible with the component (a).
