Enantioseparation of Clenbuterol by Vancomycin-Based Chiral Stationary Phase

The enantiomers of clenbuterol were separated by using vancomycin-based chiral stationary phase.The effects of elution mode,composition of mobile phase and column temperature on separation efficiency were investigated.The separation mechanism was also explored.Results indicate that the best separation efficiency is achieved at a mobile phase (methanol-acetic acid-triethylamine,volume ratio 100:0.01:0.01) flow rate of 1.0 mL/min and temperature of 20 ℃.It is feasible to realize baseline separation of the enantiomers of clenbuterol under the optimal conditions,with the maximum resolution factor being 2.67.Besides,ionic interaction between the vancomycin-based chiral stationary phase and the enantiomers of clenbuterol is responsible for the chiral separation of the enantiomers.
