AbstractTheresonantlyenhancedmultiphotonionization(REMPI)spectraofpyrrole(C4H5N),N‐methylpyrrole(C5H7N),andfuran(C4H4O)havebeenmeasuredinthewavelengthregionfrom365to680nmNewandpreviouslyobservedRydbergstatesarereportedforpyrroleandfuranVibrationalconstantsarepresentedformostoftheRydbergseriesAccurateionizationpotentialsarederivedforpyrrole(8207±0003eV)andN‐methylpyrrole(794±002eV)AstrongtwophotonallowedtransitionisobservedinN‐methylpyrroleat41 193cm−1(0,0)andisattributedtoan1A2stateThecorrespondingstateisnotseeninpyrrole;however,itmaybeobscuredbyoverlappingRydbergseriesMassspectrafollowingREMPIforbenzene,pyrrole,andfuranarereportedThedegreeofionicfragmentationdependsuponlaserpowerdensityandwavelength
