Coating (M1) a component on a surface involves applying an organic polyoxazole-containing polymer solution to the surface; and drying the applied polymer solution to form a coating on the surface. An independent claim is included for a corrosion-resistant coating (C1) on a component comprising a solution containing an organic polyoxazole-containing polymer, where the solution is applied to a surface of the component in order to coat the surface.
