Volcanism and metallogenesis of axial and off-axial structures on the East Pacific Rise near 13 degrees N

Differences in volcanic petrography and in structural styles of hydrothermal deposits of axial (graben) and off-axial (sea-mount) structures are extensively described and explained. At least two different magma supplies are invoked for the various types of volcanics in the adjacent structures. The off-axis hydrothermal deposits formed directly as massive sulphides, rather than from coalescing chimneys as found in the axial graben.-G.J.N.
