In seventy–seven fit patients, premedicated only withatropine, a linear relationship was found between the dosageof G.29.505 (range 100–800 mg; 1.8–18.1 mg/kg) andsleeping time. This differs from the expected response to similardoses of thiopentone. The difference in recovery from the twodrugs may be attributable to variations in their redistribution(and possibly detoxication) in the body. It is postulated thatthe lack of depressant effects of G.29.505 on the cardiovascularsystem, and release of adrenaline after injection, may contributeto the rapid recovery, even after large doses, from the effectsof this drug.
