Recovery of carotenoids from palm oil

The carotenoids from palm oil were recovered through a two-stage process involving transesterification of palm oil followedby molecular distillation of the ester. The carotenoid fraction contained more than 80,000 ppm carotenoids. α- and β-Caroteneswere the major components. Vitamin E and sterols were also present.
