摘要:

The author has reviewed the proceedings of a special workshop held in Toronto, Canada in September of 1984. The workshop was organized by the International Council of Scientific Unions' Scientific Committee on Problems of the Environment (SCOPE) subcommittee on metals cycling. This subcommittee is a part of the overall SCOPE Biogeochemical Cycling Committee. The groups addressed the biogeochemical behavior in atmospheric, terrestrial and aquatic systems, behavior in atmospheric, terrestrial and aquatic systems, residence time, and environmental/ecological and (human) health aspects of these elements. Other items discussed included sources (natural vs. antropogenic); sinks; and the needs for national, regional, and eventually global inventories. Also identified was the lack of information on these elements in tropical and subtropical regions. Part II presented individual papers of the review type. The author recommends the volume to both students and researchers.
