Enantiomeric Separation of Zolmitriptan by CE with Hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin as Chiral Selector

A practical chiral capillary electrophoresis method was established for the determination of the(R)-enantiomer in zolmitriptan. The background electrolyte was 25mmol/L potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution(adjusted to pH 2.0 with phosphoric acid) containing 30mmol/L HP-β-CD. A fused-silica capillary was used at the detection wavelength of 220nm. Zolmitriptan and its(R)-enantiomer were resolved in baseline with resolution of 3.5. The calibration curve of (R)-enantiomer was linear in the concentration range of 1 - 10μg/ml(r = 0.9998). The average recovery was 100.3% and the detection limit was 0.31μg/ml.
