An inhibitor of Helicobacter pylori colonization includes as an active ingredient a polysaccharide having sulfate groups. This substance can eliminate specifically Helicobacter pylori from the stomach and so can provide safe and effective pharmaceutical compositions for use in the prevention or treatment of gastritis, gastric ulcers, etc., and provide a food for prevention or treatment of these diseases. This substance may be used along with an inhibitor of gastric acid secretion to eliminate Hp more effectively.
