Developmental pathway of granular and beaded nuclear bodies from nucleoli

Nuclear bodies with beaded filaments, "beaded nuclear bodies," were distinguished from the other types of nuclear bodies in three different pathological conditions and were compared to similar structures observed by others under normal conditions. The filaments are different from nucleocapsids of viruses although in some cases they might be precursors of myxoviruses. A sequence was observed in which nucleolar RNP fibrils and granules segregated from the nucleolus and were included in granular nuclear bodies; filaments seemed to be assembled from granules and to become the main component of "beaded" nuclear bodies.
