Controllable Synthesis of CoAl-LDH/MWCNTs as a Novel Electrode Material for Supercapacitors

This paper presents a new design route to fabricate cobalt aluminum- layered double hydroxide( CoAl- LDH) thin layers between which multi- walled carbon nanotubes( MWCNTs) are intercalated by a coprecipitation method withAlOOH sol as aluminum source. The synthesized composites were characterized by XRD,FT-IR,TEM and so on. The electrochemical performance was studied by cyclic voltammetry,constant current charge- discharge and AC impedance spectroscopy. The galvanostatic charge-discharge test of the CoAl-LDH/MWCNTs composite shows a great specific capacitance of 666 F/g at 1 A/g in 6 M KOH solution,and the composite displays a specific capacitance of 520 F/g even at a high current density of 10 A/g,and the retention rate of specific capacitance remains at 78.1%. Moreover,the composite gets the best specific capacitance of 800 F/g at the 450 th cycle,and remains a specific capacitance of 776 F/g after 1000 cycles at 2 A/g,and the retention rate of specific capacitance remains at 97%,indicating that the composite has high specific capacitance,good rate capability and excellent cycling stability.
