A mild personal cleansing composition is described which comprises an ethoxylated sulfate anionic surfactant, an amphoteric surfactant, an N- acylamino acid surfactant, a cationic cellulose ether derivative and a fatty alcohol. The composition is substantially free of polymeric thickeners and comprises little or no alkyl sulfate anionic surfactant.
