Studies the pathway of autotrophic carbon dioxide fixation in the phototrophic bacterium Chloroflexus Aurantiacus and in the aerobic thermoacidophilic archaeon Metallosphaera sedula (M. sedula). Search for key enzymes of established autotrophic pathways in M. sedula; Detection of carbon dioxide fixation enzymes of the postulated 3-hydroxypropionate cycle in M. sedula; Demonstration of enzyme activities converting acetyl-coenzyme A.
