摘要:

This chapter introduces physiochemical and electrochemical properties of corrosion inhibitors. It starts by presenting corrosion inhibition processes that affect metal anodic or cathodic polarization properties as well as corrosion retardation by surface adsorption. It then explains inhibitor classification according to mechanism, inhibitor application (pickling, acid cleaning, descaling, etc.), and inhibitor chemical nature (inorganic and organic). A full chemical and electrochemical property discussion for anodic or passivating, cathodic, including cathodic poisons, cathodic precipitates, and oxygen scavengers, adsorption or organic inhibitors, precipitation inhibitors, ohmic and vapor phase inhibitors is at the end of the chapter. A literature review is provided for recent organic, inorganic, and green corrosion inhibitor development with "zero" environmental impact.
