We present a cell separation device that uses a combination of dielectrophoresis (DEP) and pressure driven fluid flow to separate differing cells types along the length of an electrode array within the device. Cells are initially focussed into a thin sheet mid-way between the upper and lower walls of the flow channel using negative-DEP. As they flow further through the device they pass over a second electrode array and experience a positive-DEP force pulling them onto that electrode array. The distance along the second electrode array at which a specific cell type is held is defined by the cells dielectric properties and size, with cells of similar properties collecting in a defined band.
