Sustaining Mechanisms of turbulent boundary layers: the role of vortex development and interactions
摘要：
The intricacies of the coherent structure of turbulent boundary layers are addressed in an attempt to extract a model of the physical processes and the complex behavior that give rise to the rich symbiotic mix of vortices and flow interactions called turbulence. The particular importance of vortices, and their role in maintaining turbulence are presented and discussed. Based on the discussions, a conceptual model hypothesizing how the various vortices and vortex-associated coherent structures interact to generate and sustain turbulent boundary layers is introduced.
