Continuum Concept, Ordination Methods, and Niche Theory
摘要：
Introduces a number of problems in vegetation theory, the possibility of experimental verification of the continuum in plant community studies, and the question of whether the continuum concept and ordination methods lead to testable hypotheses. While the development of niche theory has been primarily based on birds and lizards, and the continuum concept based on higher plants, it is argued that together with a common methodology (eg use of principal component analysis and canonical correlation analysis) ideas and conclusions form each may complement each other. -P.J.Jarvis
