Expression and prognostic significance of Ki-67 and microvessel density in gastric adenocarcinoma
摘要:
Objective To investigate the expression of Ki-67 protein and microvessel density (MVD) in gastric adenocarcinoma and their relations with clinical pathologic features. Methods Ki-67 and MVD in 100 cases of gastric adenocarcinoma were assayed by immunohistochemical staining. Results The Ki-67 was positively correlated with the depth of invasion and lymph node metastasis (P 0.01), but not with the histological types of gastric adenocarcinoma (P 0.05). The MVD was significantly high in tumors with deep penetration, lymph node metastasis and distant metastasis (P 0.05). The recurrence rate after curative resection in hypervascular group was significantly higher than that in hypovascular group (P 0.01). A positive trend of correlation toward significance was found for Ki-67 and MVD (P 0.05), and the prognosis of patients with high Ki-67 and MVD was significantly poorer than that with reduced expression of Ki-67 and low MVD (P 0.01). Conclusions Ki-67 and MVD are positively correlated with growth, invasion, metastasis and prognosis of gastric adenocarcinoma. They can be predictors for the biological behavior and prognosis of tumor.
